Arsenic can be found naturally in the environment and can be an industrial by-product of certain man-made processes. Arsenic is odorless and tasteless which makes detection of presence not possible without physically testing the water. Arsenic has both short term and long term health risks associated with exposure. Arsenic is a carcinogen which is linked to various cancers including skin, lung and bladder. EPA only governs public water supplies and does require periodic testing for arsenic. Homeowners on private wells are not regulated and thus should test periodically for arsenic levels.
If you are performing testing to meet a regulatory requirement or if your results may be used for litigation purposes, please contact us for more information about testing packages designed for those purposes. |
